Activities

Make a list of words, many of which start with the letter "S". As you slowly say the words, have your child hold up the Mr. S coloring page when he/she hears the "S" sound.

Play "bag it" with your child. Place two bags in front of your child (brown paper lunch bags are ideal) and sever small items from around the house. A few of the items should begin with the letter "S", (soap, spoon, sock, screwdriver, etc.),and some should not. Write a upper case and lower case "S" on one of the bags. Help your child sort the objects into groups that start with "S" and a group that does not, and have him/her place the item in the appropriate bag. It may be helpful for your child to say "super socks" and the name of each item to see if they hear the "S" sound in the item's name.

Your child can design their own "Super Socks", using paper and fabric strips, or they can decorate old socks into sock puppets!
